MTU Series 1600 diesel engines for C&I applications will be available beginning in 2014 for the 560 kW to 730 kW range. They meet US EPA Tier 4 emissions regulations using exhaust recirculation and do not need either particulate filters or SCR technology.

For current EU Stage III A and EPA Tier 3 emissions standards, MTU supplies Series 400, Series 500 and Series 900 engines for C&I applications in the 75 kW to 480 kW range. These units are based on Mercedes-Benz commercial engines and are specifically engineered by MTU to match the C&I profile.

In 2014, MTU will be extending its range of C&I products below the Series 1600 with new 4- and 6-cylinder engines designated Series 1000, Series 1100, Series 1300 and Series 1500. These engines will range in power up to 560kW and will meet EU Stage IV and EPA Tier 4 final specifications. They will be equipped with exhaust recirculation, diesel particulate filters and SCR systems.
The engines are based on the new generation of commercial vehicle engines from Mercedes-Benz and will be designed by MTU specifically to match the C&I profile.
