Siemens Transportation Systems and Alstom Transport SA are to install 68 engine & generator units, based on MTU 16V 4000 R43 rail engines, in their jointly-developed Type BB 475000 diesel-electric freight locomotives.

A total of 45 Model 16V 4000 R43 rail engines, each producing 2,400kW (3,218 bhp), will power Bombardier's diesel electric TRAXX DE locomotives.
